Building Sites That Cater To Females

When I first began to write this article, I thought to myself "This should be
easy, I am female, I surf the net, I look at porn and I know what women would
like to see". Well once again I was wrong. After talking with other
webmistresses and women that I knew I found that their tastes and needs varied
so much that I can see why there are so few good sites out there geared to
women.

The one general consensus that did emerge through these discussions is that
women are more situation oriented than visual oriented. As one put it "Women
want romance, men want sex". To a women true romanticism is the most erotic,
sensual fantasy there is. To be desired, pursued, fought over and eventually
seduced by her suitor. Needless to say, this is very difficult to portray on a
porn site. Many web designers figure that story sites are the best draw for
women, and to some degree that is true, but it not so much the reading of the
stories but the content that makes the difference. A story about how some man
meets a woman in an elevator and they have mind blowing sex between the 6th and
21st floors is not going to appeal as much as the same story with the man and
women already established as lovers who are so passionate for each other that
they cannot control themselves and give over to heated lust as soon as the doors
close. Because THAT is romantic!

Not to say that women do not enjoy the visual, we do. Just look at what
thousands of women did for the career of Fabio. But women can create the person
in their mind that they share these fantasies with, it could be the local
mailman, the guy they work worth or, in a surprisingly large number of women,
their husband or boyfriend. Most of the women I talked to prefer to watch or
surf porn with their mates, and find it frustrating that there are so few sites
available that cater to the couple. They want to see other couples engaged in
lovemaking, not just sex.

What is missing in most videos, live feeds, and even most stories is the
touching and caressing of one's partner. The tenderness and sensuality of a
light stroke of a partner's hand across your hair, or the sweetness of a nibble
on the earlobe. These are the things that turn a woman on, make her want to do
whatever it takes to please her partner. And like anything you bring slowly to
boil, when it gets hot, it gets steaming! Then is when we want to see the
hardcore, bring it on, make me scream, "Don't stop, baby" sex!

Women also want naked men, and like men they want all kinds of variety. Some
want them tall, tan and trim, others like them short, hairy and muscular. They
like them sweaty, oiled, semi nude, nude, semi hard, and "I can drive nails with
this thing". So in that respect webdesigners should think the same way they do
with the content for men.

Another thing that came through in our discussions is that women want to
learn, they want information that will help them be better lovers or to better
understand the lovers they have. Some insight into what makes men want they
things they want, what turns them on and what turns them off. Not that you want
to talk down to the female surfer, but you need to understand that many of them
are searching the net and looking at porn, because they want to know what their
partners see in it. Though it is true that single women also surf the net, I
found very few that do it looking for any kind of sexual release. Most of them
do it, to either flirt in chatrooms or look into personal ads, hoping to find
someone of the same ilk.

So if a webdesigner wanted to build a site that appealed to the general
female population, based on what I have learned, I would suggest the following.
First, drop some major cash and film some of your own video content. Make small
plays as it were, where you bring the Harlequin-type book alive complete with
romantic plots and a dashing hero that has to go through pure hell before he
gets the girl. For the live video feeds get couples or actors that can portray
couples that are in love and it is obvious that the passion and heat is there
between them. Trust me on this, we can tell! Have a large library of erotic
stories geared towards the female, and remember that even though romance is high
on the list, we enjoy kinky as well.

Bondage and role-playing stories scored very high on the list. Offer an
advice column type area, where members can ask questions and get some honest
feedback. Add chat rooms where members can gather to talk and swap stories and
ideas. and perhaps, even talk with the models or actors. Don't forget to include
a members personal ad section. Perhaps, add a large variety of pics, in all
types of scenarios... men working, at the beach, at the gym, in the shower, and
in the bedroom. Simple right?

As I mentioned in the before, the multitude of tastes makes pinpointing what
would sell to the female surfer very difficult. I am by no means an expert on
this subject, however, if I was going to delve into that realm that is what I
would try to do.
