There are still plenty of great domain names out there. You just gotta be patient, and creative.
If you're working with a certain niche, make sure it's in the title.
Certain domain-buying/selling folks will argue with me on this point, but after 6 years in and out of the adult biz and nearly 10 years online in mainstream it's my *very strong* opinion that you should focus solely on .com if you can, and don't use dashes if you can help it. Sure, the SE spiders don't care if your domain has dashes. But trust me on this... the surfers DO care. They see dashes and they think "spammer". When looking at SE results on a search query they see your domain name and it *does* make a difference. Now, when you're doing a link trade with someone and you can have them put "Hot Babes On Tap" as the link instead of "hot-babes-on-tap.com" then it doesn't really matter. So think of where you think most of your traffic will be coming from.
All right, first you go to a free bulk check name engine and just start brainstorming with different variations of your niche:
http://www.domaintools.com/bulk-check/-Be sure to do both singular and plural versions of your niche keyword. Like for pantyhose you'd want to try different ways of saying pantyhose, such as hose, nylon, nylons, stocking, stockings. For BBW there's BBW, large, big, thick, chunky, fat, bubble, etc.
-Add the usual prefixes and suffixes like adult, porn, sex, xxx, pics, pictures, vids, videos, gallery, galleries
-Run that through and see what you come up with. The ones that are available will have an empty checkbox beside them.
If you see any you like that are available, drop the names into a text file. Later, when you're ready to buy, you can just drop the ones you want to keep into the bulk registration tool at your favorite registrar.
If you don't find anything suitable or if you're looking to buy a bunch of names, here's where you start getting creative.
-Add suffixes like babe, babes, girl, girls, ladies, women, blog, diary, fansite, fans, review, reviews, picpost, toplist, etc
-Add prefixes of cool adjectives like wild, horny, sexy, loose, topless, true, raunchy, hot, cool, sinful, naughty, etc. Adjust these to your niche... for a niche like pantyhose you'd do things like silky, smooth, different color names (black, white, sheer), or names of expensive hoses you can buy, or things like fishnet, net, custom, exotic, torn, encasement (as a suffix), etc.
-Then there's always two-word prefixes like SexIn(niche), SexWith(niche), PicsOf(niche), TheBest(niche), etc... but try to keep your domain name to as few words as possible. One is prime, two is fantastic, three is pushing it, and four is too much unless they're all short words and it's catchy or really memorable
-There's also suffixes that give you a title or a supposed "ranking" like king, kings, queen, posse, mob, expert, pervert, etc
-And don't forget for hubs or link lists or even TGPs you can do suffixes like directory, index, hub, station, and central
If you ever run out of brainstorming ideas, follow rabbit trails. "Directory" is good but usually taken, so what could you use instead of "directory"? Go to
http://www.thesaurus.com and type in the word you're trying to replace. For "directory" we come up with a bevy of options like list, lineup, catalog, guidebook, gazette, pages, registry, etc. Any of those would work, although some are better than others.
A lot of folks are doing mainstream revenue-oriented sites. The big thing with online revenue is "multiple streams of income". So go off of that. Stream is a good suffix. Playing off of that you could have river, route, street, road, ave, avenue (some of these could work with adult as well)
Whenever possible use alliteration to your advantage. Two-word domains where both words start with the same letter tend to stick in a surfer's mind more and are easier to memorize. WildRedheads is nowhere near as memorable as RaunchyRedheads or RedheadRoad. BuxomBlondes and BlondeBabes work better than BlondeGirls or BlondeLadies.
Just play around and brainstorm. Whenever something's available, drop it into a text file and keep going... you never know when you might get the urge (or have the need) to do another domain buying spree, and having a list of probably-still-available domains to drop into the bulk checker will save you a ton of time. Plus something that doesn't look good at first glance might perfectly match with an idea you have a day or two from now.
Go try it out for a few minutes and post any cool domains you come up with! (Okay only if you don't mind if they're not available tomorrow, lol)
And don't forget, the ones you like but just don't fit you, you could always register and then sell for a small profit on the domain name forum here at the Pond.
