Hi Folks, we bring you here tons of tutorials writen by great webmasters and collected them over at Netpond.com
LESSON 7 - MARKETING AND TARGETING

You've got your pages built with your content and now you're ready to start marketing. Marketing begins with choosing sponsors. Once you've chosen a sponsor, you should consider how you will promote them. Begin by studying the tools they offer. They may have free content, they may have articles, and most certainly they have banners to use. They may have full page ads, half page ads, as well as console generators. Use whatever they offer. They've developed these tools because they work. They've done their homework and now they are sharing the results!

Study your sponsors tours! How can you sell something if you've never even looked at the site? Know the sites and their unique features. DO NOT PROMISE SOMETHING THAT YOU CANNOT DELIVER!!! You will only piss your surfers off and your sponsor will drop you like a lead balloon and rightly so!!

How will you know what to do with your traffic? Study your stats!! Stats are key to your success! Observe the trends hourly, daily, and weekly. It's okay to change out your banners and ads. In fact, you'll find that when you refresh your site your sales may very well increase.

If you have a teen site, you can channel that traffic to your teen sponsors, but don't miss out on any opportunity. Offer alternatives. Your surfers may not be interested in a mature site, but they might like to see an upskirts site or a live teen webcam site. Consider every pixel of your site as real estate and as opportunity!
