Hi Folks, we bring you here tons of tutorials writen by great webmasters and collected them over at Netpond.com
LESSON 9 - TRAFFIC TYPES AND WHERE TO GET IT

There are several different types of traffic. You can get traffic from search engines, TGPs (Thumbnail Gallery Posts), Toplists, Picposts, Linklists, and you can even get traffic by trading links with other site owners. To take advantage of these different types of traffic, the best thing to do is to study them! More study? More research? By now, you should realize that to find the answers in this biz, research is the key. There is no one that is going to hold the single most important answer to it all!!

Generally, each search engine or search directory has their own guidelines for submitting a site. If you want to get listed on them, you need to respect their rules. Once you're listed and start getting this traffic you need to analyze your stats to see what keywords are snagging those surfers. Find out what your surfers are looking for!! Then be sure to give them plenty of choices of where to go to get what they want.

TGPs, Toplists, Picposts, and Linklists will all have submission rules that you need to follow. It's not a good idea to waiver from these rules or to change your pages after you've submitted because if the owners of the sites discover your deceit you may be blacklisted!! Linklist, TGP, Picposts, and Toplist owners share blacklists. So you may not only be dropped from one site but several sites. You may find your traffic sources totally dry up! Don't cheat them!!! They are NOT obligated to list your site just because you've submitted your link!

When you submit your site to a traffic site like those mentioned above, be sure to submit it to the correct category. Check out all the categories that are offered. Your site could get rejected just because you submitted to the wrong category!!

You can also get traffic through auto-submitters. Be careful, though. Many list sites do not allow auto submissions. Auto submitters may not submit your site to the correct category and you could get blacklisted for mistakes made by the auto submitter.

Surfers from these sites have very specific wants and needs. They have arrived on your doorstep because you've sparked their interest. Hopefully, you've set up your pages in such a way that you can handle this traffic. There is nothing worse than posting a pic of a teen on a picpost, the surfer clicks on your link and then when they get there they find galleries of bondage pics. WRONG STRATEGY!! This is a quick way to fail. Think smart! If you post a teen pic, then have more teen content available on your site -- of course, only enough to tease, not please!

Lastly, you can even purchase traffic.. but that's another story altogether!!
